Skip tracing Live
What skip tracing is, how Landing Zone's Skip Trace matches records to phones and emails, what it costs, and why results need verification before outreach.
Skip tracing is the practice of finding current contact details — phone numbers and email addresses — for a person you can identify but cannot yet reach. In Landing Zone, Skip Trace does this at scale as part of Intelligence.
How it works
You point Skip Trace at records from any of seven sources: a purchased dataset, a CSV or XLSX file, a Google Sheet, a folder, selected contacts, an imported list, or a prior batch.
Landing Zone matches each record against the connected data source. At a high level, the identifying details you provide — such as a name and address — are used to locate the same person in that source and return the phone numbers and emails associated with them.
Pricing is per outcome, not per attempt: each successful match costs 1 credit, while cached results and no-matches are free. The cost is shown before you confirm, and credits are only settled on success.
When a run finishes, you can export the results to CSV or send them onward — add matches to your contacts or into a campaign.
For the step-by-step walkthrough, see the skip tracing guide.
When to use it
Skip trace whenever you know who someone is but not how to reach them — most often right after owner lookup resolves who owns a property, or when a list you imported has names and addresses but no phones or emails.
Limitations
- Not every record matches. Unmatched records cost nothing, but they also return nothing.
- A match is data, not permission. Skip-traced contacts default to UNVERIFIED consent until an opt-in is recorded, and batch and campaign SMS require verified consent — see Consent records.
- Verify and screen before outreach. Matched numbers can be stale or belong to someone else. Run phone verification to confirm line types, and screen against DNC, litigator, and suppression data before contacting anyone — see Screening and suppression.
Frequently asked questions
Am I charged for cached results?
No. If a record was matched before and the result is served from cache, there is no charge. Only new successful matches cost 1 credit each.
Am I charged when no match is found?
No. No-match results are free — you only pay for successful matches.
Can I skip trace contacts already in my CRM?
Yes. Selected contacts and imported lists are both supported sources, alongside datasets, CSV/XLSX files, Google Sheets, folders, and prior batches.
