Email verification Live

How Landing Zone checks email addresses — domain and MX checks always, mailbox-level verification where enabled — at 1 credit per 10 addresses.

Email verification checks whether an address can actually receive mail before you send to it. It is part of Verify in Intelligence, alongside phone verification.

How it works

Verification runs at two levels:

  • Domain and MX checks run on every address: does the domain exist, and does it publish mail servers that accept email? An address whose domain cannot receive mail will never deliver, no matter how plausible it looks.
  • Mailbox-level verification runs where enabled: it goes a step further and checks whether the specific mailbox exists at that domain. Where mailbox-level checks are not available, results rest on the domain checks.

Verification costs 1 credit per bundle of 10 addresses, with the cost shown in-app before you confirm. Credits are only charged on success.

When to use it

Verify before any meaningful email send — especially after an import or a skip trace brings in addresses you have never mailed. The reason is deliverability: sending to dead addresses produces bounces, and sustained bouncing damages how receiving servers treat your mail. Verifying first keeps bad addresses out of the send in the first place. If your delivery is already suffering, start with email delivery issues.

The verify email addresses guide covers the flow in the app.

Limitations

  • Verification tells you an address can receive mail — not that the person wants your mail or that any particular message is appropriate to send. Audience and consent decisions remain yours.
  • Mailbox-level verification is not available for every address; in those cases the result reflects domain-level checks only.
  • A verified address can still bounce later — mailboxes close and domains change. Verify again before major sends rather than trusting old results.
  • Verification does not improve the content or targeting of your email; it only removes undeliverable addresses.
