Create templates Live
Build reusable email and SMS templates with merge fields, spin syntax variants, previews, and per-template performance stats.
Templates let you write a message once and reuse it across batches and campaigns. Merge fields personalize each send, spin syntax generates message variants so recipients don't all get identical text, and performance stats show you which templates actually earn replies.
Before you start
- A sense of which channel you're writing for — email and SMS templates are separate.
- For email templates that should carry a signature: a signature set up on your sending account. See Set up email signatures.
Steps
- Open Templates and create a new template.
- Choose the channel — email or SMS. Each channel has its own templates.
- Write the message with merge fields. Merge fields pull in per-contact details, so every recipient sees their own information rather than a generic blast.
- Add spin syntax for variants. Spin syntax lets one template produce multiple phrasings of the same message, which keeps high-volume outreach from looking copy-pasted.
- Add the
{{signature}}token to email templates where you want the sending account's signature inserted. Don't also type a signature into the body, or recipients will see it twice. - Preview the template. The preview shows how the message renders before you trust it with a real send.
- Use it in a batch. Pick the template when you create an email batch or create an SMS batch.
- Review performance stats. Each template tracks how it performs, so you can keep the messages that work and rewrite the ones that don't.
Limitations
- The
{{signature}}token is for email templates — signatures are a feature of connected email accounts. - A template is only as good as the data behind it: merge fields depend on the contact fields being filled in.
- Performance stats accumulate as templates are used; a brand-new template has nothing to show yet.
