Inbound calling Live
How inbound calls to your Landing Zone numbers work — forwarding to your routing number, voicemail capture on missed calls, and notifications.
Inbound calling is what happens when a contact calls you back. Calls to your Landing Zone numbers forward to your routing number — the phone where you actually answer — so replies to your outreach reach a real person. If you miss the call, Landing Zone captures a voicemail and notifies you, so a returned call never disappears silently.
Setup requirements
- Provision a Landing Zone number in Settings → Phone numbers — this is the number contacts see and call back.
- Set your routing number on the same screen. This is the destination phone inbound calls forward to. See configure calling for first-time setup.
Capabilities
- Forwarding. Calls to your Landing Zone numbers ring through to your routing number; you answer on your own phone.
- Voicemail capture. Missed calls capture a voicemail so you can hear what the caller wanted.
- Notifications. You're notified about inbound call activity, so missed calls and voicemails don't sit unseen.
- Returning calls. Call back from the contact's record with click-to-call, which logs the call and lets you record a disposition like any other outbound call.
Rules and risks
Inbound is the contact-initiated direction of the channel — the person chose to dial your number — so the risk profile centers on what you do next, not on the call itself. A returned call does not by itself create a recorded consent basis for future outreach: batch and campaign SMS still requires VERIFIED consent with proof, and outbound callbacks still pass quiet-hours and suppression screening before they're placed. If a caller asks you to stop contacting them, honor it — suppression exists for exactly that. See calling considerations and consent records.
Current status
Inbound calling is live in Landing Zone.
Limitations
- Voicemail is captured on missed calls; answered calls are simply conversations on your phone.
- Forwarding goes to the routing number you set — keep it current, or inbound calls ring a phone nobody answers.
